IRC 3-Zone HVAC Controller
This controller allows one to connect multiple thermostats to a single heating and air conditioning system with each thermostat is located in a different area or "zone". Conditioned air is then routed separately to the zones using motorized dampers located inside the duct work. By interpreting the signals from the thermostats, the zone controller supervises the operation of the heating and air conditioning equipment and motorized dampers. The advantage to this type of system is its ability to maintain a more constant temperature throughout the home while allowing the use of smaller equipment.
Version 7.0 of IRC's 3-Zone HVAC controller is now available. This zone controller is self-optimizing by using an event recorder that stores several days
worth of data. It uses this information to determine the most efficient way to maintain zone temperatures based on past usage. In the average two-storied home the temperature upstairs is commonly 7 to 10 degrees higher than on the main level. The IRC zone controller can reduce this differential to less than 1 or 2 degrees. Programmable Light Dimmer
IRC's programmable light dimmer is soon to be released. It features programmable ramp rate, auto-shut off time and preset light level. This microprocessor-controlled dimmer ramps the lights on smoothly which makes bulbs last up to 100 times longer. These dimmers use a master/slave scheme that eliminants the need for costly 3-way dimmers. Though the dimmers are compatible for use with existing wiring, they can save money when used in new construction since all control wiring may be substituted with much smaller gauge wire.
